How to Get Along With People Having Different Opinions

OK, so you're talking to someone and suddenly, your conversational partner says he HATES something that you LOVE, vice versa or something similar to that. What do you do?

STEPS

1
Make your opinion clear. We don't want your conversational partner to get confused. Try to make it polite though.

2
Make your point. "In my opinion..." or "I think..." are great ways to start your opinion of the matter.

3
If he/she starts to argue, make it OK. Tell your conversational partner that what he/she thinks is fine, and what you think is also fine and there's nothing to argue about. (Unless you're a person who likes to argue, though it often pushes people away.)

4
If all else fails, change the subject.

  • Be polite. People don't like rudeness.
  • Don't make your opinion sound like a fact. It's your opinion.
